Carly Smith writes and edits from the Greater New York City area with her trusty feline coworkers. Above all, she loves good stories. She worked as a news writer primarily covering the video games industry at The Escapist for one and a half years before leaving to work in the publishing industry. After working at Yen Press as an editorial assistant on Japanese manga and light novels, she transitioned to working as a self-proprietor writer and editor and still edits many light novels and manga series today. She writes stories about people of all genders and backgrounds in modern, fantasy, and science-fiction settings.

While studying journalism at Ithaca College, Carly copy edited the award-winning college newspaper, The Ithacan, and wrote for the alternative magazine on campus, Buzzsaw Magazine.

Carly's goal is to broaden her experiences and knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of other people—and to tell a really good story.
